Apple will set off into the world of accompanying podcasts with an audio series based on its drama For All Mankind.

The technology company launches For All Mankind: The Official Podcast – the first accompanying podcast to an Apple TV + show. It comes before the start of the second season of the Ronald D. Moore drama on February 19. The deadline also revealed that the show had been extended for a third season.

Krys Marshall, who plays Commander Danielle Poole on the series, will host the show. There she will discuss what really goes beyond our atmosphere and include interviews with guests from the series, space experts and former astronauts – and never before. Heard audio that shows astronauts accomplishing the impossible.

The podcast is produced in partnership with At Will Media, which produces podcasts including Bill Clinton’s Why Am I Telling You This?

It is because Apple is tentatively venturing into the original audio space to compete with a number of competitors like Spotify.

For All Mankind explores what would have happened if the global space race had never ended. The series presents an emerging world where NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves at the center of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate timeline of history – a world where the USSR strikes the US to the moon.

Season 2 begins a decade later in 1983. It is the height of the Cold War, and tensions between the United States and the USSR are at their height. Ronald Reagan is president, and the larger ambitions of science and space exploration threaten to be wasted as the Americans and Soviets battle each other to control resource-rich places on the moon. The Department of Defense has moved into mission control, and NASA’s militarization plays a central role in the stories of several characters: some fight it, others use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests, and others are at the height of a conflict that can lead to nuclear war.

For all humanity stars Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, Wrenn Schmidt, Jodi Balfour, Krys Marshall and Sonya Walger.

The series was created by Moore and Ben Nedivi & Matt Wolpert. The three exporting products alongside Golden Maril Davis from Tall Ship Productions. For All Mankind is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
