Broadway will remain closed until at least May 30, 2021, the Broadway League announced today. The four month extension after the last January date will force producers to hope for a spring opening to come up with new plans.
The Broadway League announced the continued suspension of all ticket sales for Broadway performances through May 30, 2021. The dates for each returning and new Broadway show will be announced as individual productions set the performance schedules for their respective shows. The date of May 30th extends the current shutdown compared to the previously planned January 2021.
“With nearly 97,000 workers relying on Broadway for a living and an annual economic impact of $ 14.8 billion on the city, our membership is required to reopen as soon as conditions permit. We’re working tirelessly with multiple partners to keep the industry going as soon as we open our curtains, ”said Charlotte St. Martin, President of the Broadway League.
