Canada approves AstraZeneca vaccine
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Friday that the Canadian Medicines Agency has approved the AstraZeneca vaccine, as well as the version produced by the Serum Institute of India.
Canada received a total of 643,000 doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. This is our biggest shipping week yet. Vaccines will arrive faster and faster as we go into spring. And not only because supplies from Moderna and Pfizer are increasing, but also because Canada has now approved another vaccination option. This morning, Health Canada approved the AstraZeneca-Oxford Covid-19 vaccine and the Covishield version from the Serum Institute of India. We now have a third safe and effective vaccine that has been independently approved by health professionals in Canada. This is very encouraging news.
