Former UFC second division champions Conor McGregor says he will be ready to return better than ever when he faces Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 later this month.
McGregor, whose planned “season” of fighting in 2020 was canceled after just one fight due to the Covid-19 pandemic, plans a big year in the UFC in 2021, starting with defeating former interim champion Poirier on Fight Iceland in January 23.
And the Dubliner has warned that he will be in top shape ahead of the fight night in Abu Dhabi.
McGregor posted a Photoshop image in which he competed against himself using footage of him at UFC 246 last January and UFC 205 as of November 2016. Fans should expect to see the best version of “The Notorious” later this month.
“Cerrone McGregor versus Alvarez McGregor. I would destroy both versions of myself. And together,” he said.
“And I don’t cause any problems. Be sure to destroy them both. 16 days!”
McGregor’s last appearance was spectacular when he dismantled Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in just 40 seconds at UFC 246 in UFC Vegas last January, while the other performance he referred to in his Instagram post was a demolition of Eddie Alvarez in the second round at UFC was 205, was often classified as the Irishman’s best performance to date in the octagon.
But as the Dubliner tries to dwarf those two performances against Poirier, the stage seems set for a spectacular clash.
