UFC President Dana White said a multitude of UFC fighters will soon be looking for another promotion to fight for after it was announced that up to 60 fighters would be removed from the roster.
At the post-UFC Vegas 16 post-fight press conference in Las Vegas, White announced that the surprise release of four-time UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero was the first of many deviations from the promotion to be confirmed in the remaining years Weeks of the year.
“It’s not just Yoel,” White told reporters.
“We’re going to be making some serious cuts here by the end of the year. We’ll probably have 60 cuts before the first of the year.”

Romero, who had fought twice for the undisputed 185-pound title and twice for the intermediate belt, was confirmed to have left the organization prior to this weekend’s event and when asked about the exit, White gave the extent of what was planned The roster is being cut, while the reasons for Romero’s specific release are also explained, although he still has three fights on his contract.
“Yoel has lost four of his last five. He is 44 years old,” he said.
“Our squad is very inflated right now. We’ll be making some big cuts before the end of the year.
“A lot of names will be popping up here over the next few weeks. … These are the tough choices you have to make.”
