The maker of Soho Fresh 70% alcohol is recalling a batch sent to retail stores across the country after the FDA found the product contained methanol. The alcohol comes in 33.81 ounces. clear bottles.
No injuries were reported.
Methanol can be toxic if enough is absorbed or applied to the skin. In addition to nausea, headaches and blurred vision, methanol can cause permanent injuries in terms of blindness and damage to the nervous system. Coma and seizures can also result. Others at greatest risk of methanol poisoning are young children if they swallow it.
