Juventus are nervously awaiting the fitness of their star player Cristiano Ronaldo after pulling out of his side’s 1-1 draw with Lazio after an ankle problem after becoming Europe’s top scorer of 2020.
The 35-year-old five-time Ballon d’Or winner was pulled off by Juve boss Andrea Pirlo by 15 minutes after he felt visibly uncomfortable when he appeared to twist his ankle.
Ronaldo indicated to Pirlo that he wanted to be withdrawn and was soon replaced by Paulo Dybala. Ronaldo was later shown in the stands with a heavy ice pack on his damaged joint.
At the time of the substitution, Ronaldo seemed to have done enough to secure the three points for the “old lady” after giving Juventus the lead in the 15th minute with a goal over Bayern’s shooter Robert Lewandowski Munich brought Europe’s five best leagues in 2020 to become the top scorer.
The goal was Ronaldo’s 27th of the calendar year.

However, it is unclear to what extent Ronaldo and Juventus will celebrate this particular award given the ankle injury that could keep him off the pitch in the upcoming games – and possibly cast doubt on Ronaldo’s long-awaited clash with Barcelona and Lionel Messi in the Champions League.
“Ronaldo is a key player not only for us, but for all the teams he has played for,” said Juve boss Pirlo after the game. “Unfortunately he had an ankle problem and had to leave the field.”
Ronaldo’s Covid-19 diagnosis excluded him from Juventus’ first game against Barcelona on October 28. The second Group G game is scheduled for December 8th.

Ronaldo has been in sensational shape since he returned from his coronavirus diagnosis after a period of self-isolation. In the 4-1 win of Juventus in Serie A against Spezia, an assistant of the Champions League against Ferencvaros and the goal on Sunday against Lazio, he scored a brace.
However, Juventus are hoping his worrying ankle problem won’t stop them from improving their sensational goal record this year.
