Former Manchester United winger and current manager of the Welsh national team, English football’s best-rated player, Ryan Giggs, has been arrested in the UK on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, according to reports.
According to The Sun newspaper, Giggs was arrested by police in the north of England on suspicion of actual assault and assault after a disturbance occurred at the player’s home on Sunday allegedly involving his girlfriend Kate Greville.

Officers were called to Giggs’ home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, following reports of a disturbance after the local player was arrested for assault, according to local police.
“The police were called at 10:05 pm on Sunday to report an incident. A woman in her thirties suffered minor injuries but did not require treatment,” a Greater Manchester Police spokesman told The Sun.
“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in Section 47 and Section 39.” Giggs was later released on bail on an investigation.
Giggs made over 700 appearances for United in a brilliant career that won two UEFA Champions League medals. 13 Premier League trophies, most of all players; and four FA Cups.

After retiring from the game at the age of 40 in 2014, he moved to coach, became interim manager at Manchester United and is currently enjoying a successful tenure as Wales boss, which started in 2018 and for which he won 64 caps during his season.
The Football Association of Wales (FAW) released a statement on Monday confirming that it is aware of allegations against its manager.
“The FAW is aware of an alleged incident involving national team manager Ryan Giggs,” the statement said. “The FAW is currently not making any further comments.”
It’s not the first time Giggs has landed in hot water with his partner. Cardiff-born Giggs made headlines when it was revealed he had had an eight-year affair with his brother’s wife.
Giggs and Kate have reportedly been together since 2017 after he divorced Mrs. Stacey.
