Donald Trump paid just $ 750 in federal income tax in 2016 and 2017, one of several revelations the New York Times reported on Sunday when it received tax information for more than two decades.
The report also showed that Trump hadn’t paid taxes in 10 of the last 15 years as he reported massive losses on his businesses.
Those losses are the source of a battle with the IRS, which, according to the Times, is questioning a $ 72.9 million tax refund.
The Times said more reports would come. The paper had previously examined the tax operations of Trump’s companies and received some limited personal tax information in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election.
The Times report released at a press conference at the White House shortly before Trump’s appearance. When asked about the story, he called it “false news” and attacked the Times reporters.
There’s more to come …
