Controversial Nick Cannon continues his comeback, returning to the morning hosting of KPWR radio station, better known as Power 106, a Meruelo Media outlet in Los Angeles.
The Top 40 / Rhythmic broadcaster shut down Cannon in July 2020 after making anti-Semitic comments on a podcast. He will continue to appear on Skyview Networks’ Nick Cannon Radio.
Cannon got caught in hot water last summer when his remarks surfaced on the Cannon’s Class podcast. His guest on the June 30, 2020 show was Richard Griffin, also known as Professor Griff, who is best known for his own story of controversial remarks that once dumped him from rap group Public Enemy.
In the course of their conversation, Cannon said it was a shame that Louis Farrakhan, Minister of the Nation of Islam, was silenced on Facebook. Cannon claimed it was an example of Jewish power that turned this community into Illuminati, Zionists, and Rothschilds.

In the resulting firestorm, Cannon was booted from numerous TV and radio appearances.
However, Cannon managed to break free of the refusals provoked by his comments, apologize, and hold an educational session with Jewish leaders.
39-year-old Cannon has appeared on the TV shows The Masked Singer, All That, Wild ‘N Out, America’s Got Talent and Lip Sync Battle Shorties. He has also appeared in films such as Drumline, Love Don’t Cost a Thing, and Roll Bounce.
Cannon had also prepared his Debmar-Mercury syndicated daytime talk show of the same name, slated for fall 2020 in 90% of the country, before the controversy delayed that project as well. Cannon will launch now this fall.
Regarding today’s radio announcement, Cannon said, “I’m back and ready to pick you up in the morning and bring you joy at dawn with original comedy and frank entertainment! Hard times don’t last, but hard people do – and I am grateful for my supporters, friends, and loved ones who have guided me through this journey over the past few months. We grow together through challenges and lessons, but come out better on the other side. “
Otto Padron, President and CEO of Meruelo Media added his support. “Nick Cannon is the perfect entertainer and more demanding than anyone! His redesigned and creatively turbo-charged local morning show will bring much-needed comedic entertainment to LA like only Nick can. Together with Teddy, Melissa and J Carisma, Nick will deliver a unique Los Angeles-themed morning show that goes with our iconic Power 106 flagship! “
