Mayor Greg Fischer Louisville Mayor Office

Mayor Greg Fischer acknowledged that there are people who believe the Kentucky Attorney General’s announcement “does not do it justice,” and outlined further ongoing investigations into Breonna Taylor’s death.

The FBI is still conducting an investigation that the Justice Department will investigate to see if federal laws, including civil rights violations, have been violated.

The Louisville Metro Police Department is also conducting a standard professional investigation to determine if “policies and procedures have been violated by officers involved in the case,” Fischer said.

It is clear that Louisville policies and procedures need to change “because Breonna Taylor should still be alive,” added the Mayor.

For Taylor, justice means “a commitment to eradicate systemic and structural racism in our city, in our country,” said Fischer.

He appealed to the people of Louisville to “turn to each other, not to each other” during the “moment of opportunity”.
