Sky Studios is working with French major Gaumont on the comedy The Wasp, which is being produced for Sky Germany.
The six-part series tells the story of Eddie Frotzke, a fallen professional dart player who wants to return to his former glory after a long career slump. With the help of his old buddy Nobbe, who is also a rusty professional dart player but has a strong tendency to alcohol, Eddie wants to find his way back into life and into his career and prove that he was not called “The Wasp” for nothing.
Jan Berger (Der Medicus) created and wrote the series under the direction of Hermine Huntgeburth (Neue Vahr Süd). Florian Lukas (goodbye Lenin!) Plays the main role. Andreas Bareiss and Sabine de Mardt produce for Gaumont with Quirin Schmidt for Sky Studios.
Filming should begin this year. The project is supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg.
