It looks like Miya Ponsetto aka #SoHoKaren was released today after she was brought back to New York City to face a judge after accusing Keyon Harrold Jr. of using her phone in a New York late last month York hotel.
According to the New York Post, hours after she returned to New York City from California, she first appeared in court for attempted robbery and attempted assault on alleged assault on the 14-year-old teenager and was then supervised on release.
Before she was released, she was also charged with jeopardizing a child’s well-being and grand theft in the fourth grade, and was ordered to stay away from the teenager and his family. She is due to appear in the Manhattan Criminal Court on March 29th. She did not make a plea during the proceedings.
Prosecutors said prior to the Keyon incident that Miya was suspected of damaging an apartment door in the East Village.
As previously reported, Miya was arrested in California earlier this week after authorities searched for her after accusing Keyon of stealing her phone. It was later learned he hadn’t taken her cell phone with him, and footage from the hotel led to the assumption that Miya had also attacked the teenager during the argument.
Prior to her arrest, she conducted an interview with Gayle King in which she admitted that she could have handled the situation differently while still trying to defend her actions. After the December incident, Miya landed back in her home state of California when authorities tried to track her down. Her arrest was a collaboration between the NYPD and the Ventura County Sheriff.
Although she has no criminal conviction, this is not her first encounter with authorities.
