Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, said Joe Biden was made for the moment.
“I think the moment and the man are made for each other,” said Clinton.
Clinton said she was “relieved and grateful” to attend the inauguration.
“I was so relieved and grateful that we were able to peacefully celebrate the transfer of power that has been a hallmark of our country,” said Clinton. “It meant a lot to so many Americans to see the ceremony on the platform where looters and terrorists tried to stop democracy a few weeks ago. It really lifted my heart.”
Clinton went on to comment on why Biden is the right leader at the moment: “He brings a deep sense of empathy that comes from his own personal experiences. But it’s a clear part of his character to listen to people, people to try, to uplift people. And I think our country needs a caring, compassionate, empathetic leader now. And Joe Biden is all that. “
When Kamala Harris became a historic Vice President, Clinton said she was “thrilled”.
“But I was also happy because she’s a friend of mine. I have no doubts that she will be a great partner for Joe Biden, and you know that she will genuinely use all of her experience and expertise for the American people. I don’t think we could ask for more, “she said.
