Internet joker Jake Paul joined UFC BMF Jorge Masvidal ahead of his April boxing match with ex-UFC competitor Ben Askren and says he wants to outdo “Gamebred” by beating Askren in an even faster time.

Masvidal scored the most sensational knockout in UFC history when his flying knee Askren fell just five seconds after his fight at UFC 239 in the summer of 2019. This was the first loss of the former Olympic wrestler Askren in mixed martial arts – and boxing novice Paul wants to know the secret to Masvidal’s success.

Speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on Tuesday shortly after confirming the April 17 boxing event that will top Triller’s latest fight card, Paul said he went to Masvidal to search his brain for their mutual enemy, Askren.

“We train here in Miami,” said Paul. “I’ve wanted to channel Masvidal’s energy since he was in Florida. I’ll connect with Masvidal tomorrow.

“He’s going to help me train for this fight and I hope I can knock out Ben faster than Masvidal. I know it seems like a lofty goal but if I get under 4.9 seconds I can break his record . “

Askren has since said that he will practice his boxing with former UFC champion Anthony Pettis.

Paul also told Helwani that he picked Askren from a list of several other names to fight. Bellator Jiu Jitsu ace Dillon Danis, Paul says, was high on his list, but the American fighter stated that a recent knee injury made any fight before summer impossible.

Conor McGregor, who was the subject of a $ 50 million bid to fight Paul, didn’t return the YouTubers’ interest – while Paul is also contemplating a boxing match with former McGregor rival Nate Diaz.

In the Fullness of Time Paul says that each of these battles will take place, but for now it is Askren who is firmly in his crosshairs.

As a dominant wrestler as in mixed martial arts, Askren has been widely ridiculed for what some fans consider to be his underdeveloped hitting skills – but since the Masvidal knee is the only knockout loss on his record, Paul will know he may have to throw anything up to and including of the sink on the former UFC title contender to get him out of there.
