Former multi-weight boxing champ De La Hoya has announced his return to the ring on Trill along with hip-hop star Snoop Dogg. Then he immediately dropped the microphone and left the stage dramatically before being mocked by fans.

Legendary bully De La Hoya has finally followed up on his threat to return to boxing and announced the date of his comeback.

During a Triller Fight Club press conference hosted Friday by rapper and commentator Snoop, the 48-year-old made his intentions official and will now follow the likes of Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr. and Evander Holyfield as they return to the circle .

“I’ll make my comeback on July 3rd,” the Mexican said emphatically, just seconds before a dramatic microphone drop.

De La Hoya, who has no opponent yet, said this week to Chris Mannix from DAZN: “We all know that a [Floyd] Mayweather’s fight would be massive ”.

In 2007, De La Hoya and Mayweather broke pay-per-view records in a close clash that saw ‘Money’ sway through a split decision after some believed that the Colonel of Golden Boy Promotions, De La Hoya had done enough to win.

While Mayweather tries to postpone a canceled exhibition fight with internet sensation Logan Paul that was originally slated for Feb.20, De La Hoya may have to try and take on another aging former enemy like Shane Mosley or Felix Trinidad first.

After a ninth-round TKO loss to Manny Pacquiao, the former six-division king retired to Mannix, telling Mannix that Tyson “inspired the hell” to come back and that he “has been training for a while Has”.

Has anyone asked about it? I mean he can do anything and he’s a great fighter, but was anyone in the world hoping this would happen?

“I was actually sparring the other day and I didn’t know I was that good,” added De La Hoya.

Not everyone is impressed, however.

“Nobody wants to see it,” commented one tired cynic on Twitter, while another was more elaborate.

“Has anyone asked about this?” They asked. “He can do anything and he’s a great fighter, but was anyone around the world hoping this would happen?”
