Dr. Anthony Fauci says a Covid-19 vaccine could be available in the US before the end of the year if it is found “safe and effective”.

The US government scientist told Andrew Marr of the BBC that the limited first doses would go to people according to a set prioritization – and that it would be “several months until 2021” before they would be widely available.

He added that the vaccine would not replace the need to take public health measures to protect people from the virus for a significant amount of time.
