Khabib Nurmagomedov says he will be present at UFC 257 in January, where Conor McGregor will face Dustin Poirier, and the Russian believes the UFC might even try to plan a meeting between the two heated rivals.

Khabib brought some degree of completion to his year-long feud with McGregor when he brought the Irish forward in the fourth round of his UFC 229 clash more than two years ago – but the post-bout hand-to-hand combat and repeated media clashes have pointed to these ever since Feud is far from over.

Re-emphasizing that he is a retired fighter, Nurmagomedov says the possibility of a second fight with McGregor in the water is dead – but suggests that the UFC could try to generate some headlines by making sure that the two crossed at UFC 227 in Abu Dhabi in January, where McGregor will attack yet another former opponent, Dustin Poirier.

At a press conference in Moscow early Wednesday promoting his new Eagle Fighting Championship in the Fighting League, Nurmagomedov announced that he will most likely be participating in the fight card, which is expected to be part of another residency on “Fight Island,” including several of his teammates they are also expected to be on the map.

And what if he and McGregor meet on the sidelines?

“Why should I think about it?” Khabib told the media present in Moscow. “I’ll act based on the situation. If you don’t like someone or they don’t like you, it’s okay. If I meet someone I don’t like, I’ll act based on the situation.”

When asked if the UFC could attempt to specifically orchestrate a situation in which McGregor and Khabib intersect, the undefeated Russian didn’t turn down the option.

“Now we’re having a serious conversation,” replied Khabib.

“Perhaps [they could]. They can. Everything can happen. It could be Moscow, Abu Dhabi, New York … Believe me, they are the best. Nobody compares to them [the UFC]. “

But when it comes down to it, Khabib says he doesn’t expect a repeat of the infamous Brooklyn, New York parking lot fracas in April 2018 that led to McGregor’s arrest after attacking a bus carrying the Russian fighter.

“Anything is possible in life,” said Khabib. “People kill each other and then make amends … I don’t think there will be any provocation [from him]he will have to think about his fight. “
