EXCLUSIVE: Ben Frow continues to grow his ViacomCBS UK empire after first assuming editorial responsibility for the My5 streamer, while changing his job title from Program Director to Chief Content Officer to reflect his increased responsibilities.

Frow is tasked with enhancing the content offering of the Channel 5 streaming service and works with Chief Operating Officer Sarah Rose, who oversees the growth, partnerships and product areas of My5. Rose joined ViacomCBS UK from Channel 4 last July.

The change coincides with the departure of Oli Thomas, Vice President and Digital Lead at ViacomCBS Networks International, who previously oversaw My5. Thomas is leaving the company this week after more than seven years.

Frow told resourcingstrategies that he had a “new toy box to play with” as ViacomCBS became increasingly dedicated to streaming. “My new obsession is My5 and what it will look like, how it will feel and how it will work,” he said, adding that he is currently working on commissioning content for My5 and Channel 5.

His increased area of responsibility follows that his colleagues also take on more responsibility for streaming. Channel 4 promoted Ian Katz to chief content officer in January, handing him responsibility for streamer All 4. ITV’s Kevin Lygo has also been named general manager for media and entertainment as part of plans to strengthen ITV Hub.

Frow’s new responsibilities come as ViacomCBS plans to roll out Paramount + worldwide. The US company has not commented on its intentions for Paramount + in the UK and Frow would not comment on launching the streaming service in the UK.
